Release Notes v1.1.3 - 8 April 2025
On 8 April 2025 we released into production a new version of the PS+ software, this was an enhancement release affecting both the 3D viewer and Project management interfaces.
On the 3D viewer side, we added functionality to allow elevation colour profile ranges to be defined across all point clouds in a project and not only individually. The minimum and maximum values for the profile are automatically set based on the absolute min/max point cloud values for all datasets automatically. The system also allows manual overrides should you wish to tweak these values. This feature ensures consistent colour banding especially when smaller individual scans have been made in areas where the topography varies greatly across the larger project area.
Our method for streaming OBJ and PLY files has been enhanced to allow better compression without losing visual detail. This works best for large files that contain many smaller objects.
The 3D viewer will now only load the visualization data for point clouds that are actively enabled for viewing, this speeds up the load times for the viewer. When a new point cloud is selected to be viewed on the layers tab, the data is loaded in the background and presented to the user when ready. This is especially beneficial to users that run over slower internet connections.
When a visual crop of a point cloud has been converted to a clipped area, the area is saved and can now be highlighted in red on the point cloud or if required isolated in view from the rest of the point cloud. By toggling the “isolate” button, you can hide all other point cloud data and only see the data that is within the clipped area. This also works well for cases where multiple clips have been taken, you can now quickly select which of these are visible in the 3D viewer.
On the Project management side, we have added functionality that allows the download of the original 3D object files giving other members of your team access to these files. Furthermore, the columns of the 3D object tab can now be sorted by clicking on the headings of the columns.
For Enterprise customers that are part of our “multifile upload” beta programme – we have developed new migration scripts to automatically move historic data from your current subscription across to the new platform. Being part of this beta programme allows a quick and convenient method for uploading multiple files to PSP all at once with advance file resume capabilities. More detailed information about this release is listed in the sections that follow. We look forward to hearing your feedback on our release and welcome your suggestions for features you want to see added to our system in the future.
Summary of release
Feature Enhancements / New Functionality
Bug fixes
Known issues
Future improvements
In our last release we upgraded our algorithms used to process and display PLY and OBJ 3D objects, this improves the rendering of the objects but may require a quick rebuild of the underlying data structure. Should this be the case, your 3D object will not load in the 3D viewer and you will notice an orange “Loading 3D Object” message that pops up at the bottom of the screen which will not disappear. To rectify this, please open the “3D models” tab in your project – click on the PLY/OBJ to open its settings page and then click on the red “Rebuild” button. Should the rebuild result in an error, you can use the “Move origin to center” tick box on the rebuild dialogue which should rectify the error.
