Release Notes v1.1.9 - 15 October 2025

On 15 October 2025 we released into production a new version of the PS+ software, this was an enhancement release affecting both the 3D viewer and Project management interfaces.

PSP integration with Qbitec – Plugin has been made available for all users free of charge for a limited time: An exciting addition we have made that is relevant for Revit® users is that we have integrated with “Qbitec for Revit”. This allows point clouds that are stored in Point Share Plus to be streamed directly into Revit using the cloud connector in the “Qbitec for Revit” plugin. Activate and download this using your PSP dashboard. Please reach out to us if you would like to find out more about this exciting new feature.

The PSP system can now handle 360 Degree Panoramic images, these images are automatically extracted from E57 files and displayed in the 3D viewer. Image location spheres show you where your 360 Images are located inside the point cloud, clicked on these will jump you from the Point Cloud view into the 360 Degree panoramic image view. We can handle multiple scenarios that cover the different ways that E57 data can be provided, for example one E57 file with multiple scans embedded each with 360 images, or multiple E57 files each with a single scan with and embedded image. Should your generation software output E57 files with separate image files, these can also be handled where these images can be associated with the E57 point cloud data after upload.

Further information about other changes in the release can be found in the sections that follow.

Summary of release

  • Integration with “Qbitec for Revit” – allowing point clouds stored in PSP to be streamed into Revit®.
  • 360 Degree Panoramic Image – Extraction from E57 files
  • 360 Degree Panoramic Image – Display of image locations in 3D viewer
  • 360 Degree Panoramic Image – Jump into 360 panoramic image view
  • 360 Degree Panoramic Image – Manual upload of images
  • When downloading files from the “Media” tab, the filenames of the files are retained.

Feature Enhancements / New Functionality

  • Improved wording in error messages

Bug fixes

  • Cubemap images are currently not supported, these will be supported in a future release.
  • Some IFC and RVT files are not correctly aligned with the point cloud, this is being investigated.
  • If the Volume Box selection is rotated away from parallel with the X, Y, Z planes, when converted to a clip, the data downloaded will contain additional points as the bounding box of the rotated volume is used to specify the extents of the clip.

Known issues

  • Planning and development for our next release is already underway.
  • A lightweight release in planned for Q4 2025 focused on bug fixes and minor enhancements

Future improvements

  • When uploading LAS/LAZ 1.4 files, please ensure that they conform to the specification and that the relevant Coordinate Reference System information is embedded (as this is a mandatory field).
  • In a previous release we upgraded the algorithms used to process and display PLY and OBJ 3D objects, this improves the rendering of the objects but may require a quick rebuild of the underlying data structure. Should this be the case, your 3D object will not load in the 3D viewer and you will notice an orange “Loading 3D Object” message that pops up at the bottom of the screen which will not disappear. To rectify this, you may need to close your browser (if it becomes unresponsive). Return to the Project Dashboard open the “3D models” tab in your project – click on the PLY/OBJ to open its settings page and then click on the red “Rebuild” button. Should the rebuild result in an error, you can use the “Move origin to center” tick box on the rebuild dialogue which should rectify the error.
